Final Proposal

So this week my inquiry class has to come up with a proposal trying to solve a problem around campus. It was pretty hard for me finding the right topic. Most of the topics that i wanted were already being used so I came up with a better topic to use.

My final video project is going to be about friends and roommates. Even though I don’t live on campus I have seen many of my friends they have changed and some of my friends has changed since school has started. Roommates and friends could get on each others nerves at times. Many of my friends that live with other friends don’t like it because they see each other  every day, they say it isn’t a good thing.

READ THIS!!

RThe readings that were assigned this week were very interesting. The first groups articles were very good and I found out more about the left and right hemisphere of the brain. The other articles that the second  article that I read was provided by  Amanda’s  group and the name of the article that I found most interesting was Why learn a second language. Both of these articles have to do with learning in different ways.
I think that I am the right side of the brain. The reasons why I think that I learn better with the right side is because I am very creative to a certain extent. I have difficult times following lectures and staying on task when a class starts to get boring. I don’t  enjoy making any types of lists because it always seems like I’m missing something and I also have a hard time making a daily schedule because I always get off task no matter what. But over all I think that I have learned a lot about the Left and Right hemisphere of the brain. This article has taught me a lot and I feel like I have more unanswered questions and I will do more research to find out more.
Learning a foreign language could be very beneficial to a person because it offers a lot of jobs to people that are multi lingual. There is a lack of  translators since 9/11 so there would be more opportunities for people who learn a second language. Amanda’s group did a great jobs on finding  these article and it was very interesting learning about the importance of learning a foreign language.

Read It!!

The readings that Krista’s groups has posted for the class to read was very interesting. The names of the articles were the type of learning styles and multiple intelligence theory. These articles talked about three main type of learning Kinesthetic, Auditory, and Visual. Kinesthetic learners are people who learn better by doing hands-on activities. Auditory learners are people who learn better when they hear information. Finally Visual learners are people that would rather see a demonstration than read.
While I was reading these articles I was questioning what type of learner I am. I have a better understanding of different types of learning methods after reading these articles. I think that I am a Kinesthetic, and  visual learner. I consider myself a visual learner because when I see something done out the correct way I will understand it better rather than it just being given to me and I don’t know how to do it. I have learned better while seeing everything done out on the board by previous teachers. I feel that visual learning is one of my strong points. Also kinesthetic is another one of my strong points. Ever since I was little I was always using my hands to build different things with my Legos. When I got older I would use my hands more for different tasks such as building a book case for my sisters or just little things around the house . I think that I and a better learner when it comes to kinesthetic  because everything is much better if I could use my hands to complete a task. These articles wer very well organized I understood everything clearly. These articles taught me a lot about the Three main learning styles. I would highly recommend these articles to people who don’t know what kind of learners they are.

Campus Safari #2

This weekend I visited the Hilton C. Buley Library to find another book for one of my classes. At first it was hard for me to locate the book because I forgot how to look up the book I needed. Then I remember that our class went to the library before and did the same thing. After I found my book I looked for another book that I saw had to do with critical thinking. It was easy to find the books after I used all of the steps that we learned when our class went to the library. The book that I chose was Critical Thinking & Logic Skills for College Students. I thought that the book related to previous class discussions. As I was reading through the book I noticed that the book also related to my Anthropology class. I read that you can evaluate the evidence by separating the conclusion from the premises. Also in this book it teaches the reader techniques and skills to master as a college student. There are a lot of lessons in this book about different topics that have to do with critical thinking. Critical thinking skills may also be the most important skill that you develop during your college career. This book has many facts and examples to become a better thinker and a better decision maker. This book most definitely relates to both classes that have to do with critical thinking.

Midterm Reflection

Midterms weren’t all that bad as I expected. I thought that they would be some crazy stuff that would have me studying for hours and hours. I thought that my midterm exams were fairly easy. Where my grades are now can use a little more improvement but I’m happy that they aren’t all that bad. I did not expect to be where I am in some classes but I am fine with the results. My time management has been working for some of my classes and others not so much. I noticed that they days I don’t have work I study more and do all of my homework. I get a lot done on my days off so I think that it has worked out for me.  Other days when I work I just sort of push homework aside and say I will do it in the morning, and I feel as if that is where I am messing up the most is when I procrastinate. I have been working on that for a while and I gradually doing much better than before. I think that if I keep up the good work I will do better with organizing my time for my different classes.

Goals for the rest of the year:

·         Higher grades

·         Better study habits

·         More time to study

·         Better test taking skills

·         Stay focused in class
