The New Student Convocation for the class of 2015 was held on Wednesday September 7. The ceremony was very short but it covered a lot of information for freshman. The main point of the ceremony was to just welcome the freshman into Southern. The part of the ceremony when our fellow classmates were on the stage reading their promises and lighting the candles in front of the whole class of 2015. Dr. Battle gave an inspiring speech about commitment and the importance of working hard and getting our education in four years because the longer we are there the more expensive it gets. He has told us that we should really stay on top of our work. I thought the whole ceremony was a great experience because it has helped me realize that the number one goal in college is just to focus on our work. It was an important event that all freshmen should have gone to it was very inspiring, and to all that went I hope they feel the same way.
